

Edward Holloway, 85, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at KU Medical Center. Reviewal will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14th at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1034 Walker Ave., Kansas City, KS 66104. Edward’s Homegoing celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112.
Edward was born February 15, 1929 in Independence, Louisiana to Green and Artelia (Jennings) Holloway. He graduated from high school in Independence and moved to Kansas City shortly thereafter. Edward married Dorthy, the love of his life, on August 6, 1979. He retired after thirty years of dedicated work as a mechanic for Wyandotte County Government and was a member of the Union. Edward was active in his church, Rising Star Baptist as an usher. He was also a member of a fishing club and enjoyed sailing, sports and westerns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Artelia Holloway.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Dorthy Holloway; his step-daughter, Linda Gross; his grandchildren, LaRonda Jordan and Joshua Erving; his sisters, Jessie Drew (Bennie) and Audrey Robinson; great aunt, MaBeh Smith; a special friend, Estes Thomas, affectionately known as Jr., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law.
