
Elizabeth Washington Wills was born in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana on February 12, 1920 to Andrew D. and Amanda Washington. She had 10 siblings; 7 brothers and 2 sisters that preceded her in death. Elizabeth ("Beth") attended school in Marthaville, Louisiana where she attended Rockcreek Elementary School and played basketball. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.
She married Timothy W. Wills on January 16, 1939 and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1942, they moved to Kansas City, Kansas. To this union five children were born. Her husband preceded her in death on February 7, 2003. They were married 64 years.
Upon arrival to Kansas City they united with King Solomon Baptist Church. They later united with Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church in 1980, where she was a member and remained faithful until her health failed. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, neighbor and friend. She was truly a housewife - most of her time was spent outside of the home working with the Parent Teacher Associations, the church or helping neighbors. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking, watching television and talking on the phone.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Timothy Jr. (Gwen), Fred George (Dorothy), Marvin A. (Johnsie) all of Kansas City, Kansas and Gregory M. Sr. (Demetria) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and one daughter Dorothy Carroll of Kansas City, Kansas. She leaves eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson and her sister Laura B. Richardson of Shreveport, Louisiana. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special niece Janeria Phillips of Kansas City, Kansas.
A visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Greater Jerusalem Baptist Church located at 1610 N. 10th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. A religious service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Immediately following, the interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens located at 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas.
