

Ersilio, Silvio, aka “Pete”, Depetre passed away peacefully in the company of loving family on February 7, 2026. Silvio was born in Pula, Italy on August 23, 1945, son to Pasquale and Antonia (Babich) Depetre. Silvio attended school until the third grade before he became a student of the world and known as an avid entrepreneur and master of all trades. At the age of 19 Silvio fled Italy to escape the communist army and to chase the American dream. He sought refuge at a work camp for a year prior to leaving Europe where he welded in a ship yard before continuing on his journey. He arrived in the United States on 4/1/1964 where he was hosted by his uncle Tony and aunt Carmen until he could get on his feet. In August 1969 Silvio married his beloved wife Janet Kay Depetre at St Patrick Catholic Church in KC, KS . Shortly after, in 1970, they welcomed their first of four incredibly talented boys. Silvio fulfilled the American dream with his beautiful bride and four most prized possessions, his sons, Timothy, Mark, Jonathan and Matthew. The boys carried on many of their father’s skills and hard work ethic which made him very proud. His love for his family and friends brought the most joy to him. Throughout the years Ersilio took on many business ventures including Depetre Tile & Floor Covering, Longhorn bbq restaurant, a bar, rent to own furniture store and several commercial and residential rentals throughout Kansas City. Ersilio was proceeded in death by his parents, Pasquale and Antionia (Babich) Depetre, his brother Carlos Depetre, his brother Oliviero Depetre, his sister A’mabule Depetre, his beautiful wife Janet Kay Depetre (Stevenson), son Timothy Ersilio Depetre. He is survived by his son Mark (Carrie) Depetre, son Jonathan (Brittany) Depetre, son Matthew Depetre, eight grandchildren and sisters Maria and Angelina. A celebration of life and luncheon will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 94th street, Kansas City, KS on April 10th, 2026 from 2:00-5:00 pm.
