Floyd E. Smith

Floyd E. Smith, 68, went to be with his Lord on July 26, 2014. A visitation will be held Friday, August 1st from 7:00-9:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, August 2nd at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66204. Burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Cancer Action, 1600 Washington Blvd, Kansas City, KS 66102.

Floyd was born on April 28, 1946 to William F. and Anna Jane (Olander) Smith. Floyd graduated from Argentine High School in 1964 and attended KCKCC and the University of Kansas. Floyd married Susan Mathes in 1981 and was the proud father of a daughter, Megan, born in 1982. He worked for the Board of Public Utilities for 34 ½ years, retiring in 2001 and was a member of IBEW #53. Floyd loved his Lord, his family, traveling and fishing. He was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, KCKS.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter and son-in-law, Michael and Megan Volo; his beloved granddaughter, Breanna; mother-in-law, Rose Mathes; sisters & brother-in-laws, Marilyn & Gary Oschner and Steve & Janet Mathes; niece & nephews, Amanda & JP Bockes, Kaleb, Kolby, Paige and Nathan Mathes.
