

George Grover, 80, of Liberty, passed away July 22, 2016 at Liberty Hospital. A visitation will be held from 11-noon, and funeral services at noon on Tuesday, July 26th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Private interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors.
George was born July 26, 1935 in Wichita to Bud and Jean Grover. While in high school, he joined the US Naval Reserve and later transferred to the Army after graduation. He served as a Sergeant (E-5) in the 11th Airborne Division and was deployed to Germany, where his expert marksmanship led to his membership in the prestigious General Le Clerc Rifle Team. He was honorably discharged in Feb., 1962. George met and married his beloved wife Esther in 1962. He graduated from Wichita State with a Bachelors in Political Science. He was a dedicated public servant and served in many capacities in the Federal government throughout his career, retiring in 1990. After retirement, George worked for or volunteered with a number of different organizations, and he was very involved in the 11th Airborne Association, the American Legion, AmVets, DAV, and the Korea War Era Veterans groups.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Jean Grover; his wife, Esther Grover in 2005; his grandson, William S. Grover; and his sister, Clarice Michelle Grover.
George is survived by his children, Tim Grover of KCK, and Tobie Bisges (Darrell) of Liberty, MO; his sister, Delores “Dodie” Evans (Paul) of Wichita; his grandchildren, Alexandrea, Olivia, Hannah and Tessa Bisges; as well as his nieces and nephews, with whom he was very close, and many other family members and friends.
