Gillis Johnson was born October 25th, 1942 in Emerson, Iowa. He moved to Shenandoah, Iowa and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1960. After graduating, Gillis moved to Kansas City, Kansas where he began a family. He worked for Armco Steel Mill for 27 years, then moved on to work for the Turner School District for the next 10 years before he retired. He spent his retirement with his family whom he thrived on traveling with and making the most out of the experiences shared together. He gave everything he could and more to his family.
