

Herman Wittenberg Jr., passed away on February 19th, 2026, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with cancer. Herman was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born on March 18th,1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to Herman and Feryne (Carlysle) Wittenberg, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Neva (Cain) Wittenberg; his children Ronda, Dan, Staci, and Sean; his grandchildren Bailee, Seth, Kameron (Lacy), Logan (Sarah), Lanie (Nate), Chayton, and Destin; and one great-grandchild Parker.
Herman graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1957. He began working at the age of eight when he obtained a paper route and never stopped. He worked for Hallmark Cards for 43 years working his way up from a 3rd shift press operator to Sr. Vice President of Purchasing. He retired in 2001.
Herman was a member of the Church of Christ and taught the high school bible class for years. When his wife began singing with a band, he learned to play the guitar so they could do it together. His bandmates said he was the best rhythm player they’d ever played with. He was a Dance Dad and a Scout Leader. He loved to ski on water and snow and shared that love with all his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was an avid golfer and classic car enthusiast which he shared with his sons and grandsons. In the summer you could find him in his pool, which had the bluest water you’ve ever seen. It was his pride and joy.
Whether Herman was your husband, father, Papa, or friend, you were better for having him in your life. He will be greatly missed by all.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on February 26, 2026 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, located at 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Final resting place to follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
