

James Ray Myers, 65, formerly of the Stony Point area of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away suddenly at his home in Canyon Lake, Texas, on Friday, December 31, 2010. Cause of death was due to complications from a tear in his aorta. Jim was born on November 16, 1945 in Kansas City, MO., to Alvin and Erma (Golden) Myers. Growing up, he attended Grinter Chapel United Methodist Church and was an Eagle Scout. He went to Stony Point Grade School, and graduated from Turner High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Math at Baker University and served his country honorably in the U. S. Army Reserves. Jim lived in the Stony Point area of Kansas City, Kansas, before leaving his job at TWA and moving to the Dallas, TX area to further his career in computer programming and as a systems analyst. Jim worked in the banking software industry as a systems designer and traveled the world to implement software upgrades. In 2007, he retired and moved to the Texas Hill Country where he and his wife built their dream home overlooking Canyon Lake. He enjoyed traveling, hiking, and woodworking. Jim is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Lynn C. Myers of Canyon Lake, TX.; sister, Barbara Jean Myers of Overland Park, KS.; brother, Donald E. Myers and his wife Carole of Lenexa, KS.; a niece, Dr. Angela Myers and her husband Dr. David Yu; and a nephew, Michael J. Myers and his wife Michelle of La Jolla, CA. He will also be sadly missed by his grand niece, Emma Yu, grand nephew, Jackson Yu, and his two faithful Golden Retriever companions, Sassy and Rowdy. Left behind to cherish his memory are several cousins, and many extended family members and friends, especially, his loving cousins, Marcia and Lonnie Reser of Smithville, MO. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. A private family inurnment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens will take place immediately following the service. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00a.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Jim had a special place in his heart for animals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Humane Society, ASPCA, or animal shelter of your choice.
