Jesse James Cole, 70, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Jesse’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 6, at Cedar Lake, Pawnee Shelter House, Olathe, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice, in memory of Jesse Cole, 8735 Rosehill Road, Suite 200, Lenexa, Kansas 66215. Graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Jess was born February 21, 1941 in Mexico, Missouri, the son of Eleanor E. Cole and Jesse Lee Cole. Jess was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years: Dorris (Liz) Cole and his mother: Eleanor. Jess grew up in the Olathe and Kansas City area.
He was an over the road truck driver and proud member of MO-Kan Teamsters 541. Jess enjoyed driving over the road and did so until his illness led him to retire. After retirement he enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes, building bird houses, fishing with family and friends, (or whoever wanted to fish).
Jess is survived by his son: James Robert Cole; daughters: Jenny Kay Clary, Barbara Ann Cole and Fawn Mears; step-sons: Allan Taber & wife Katrina, and David Taber & wife Lisa; step-daughter: Jennifer Wallace & husband Brent; brother: Leroy Cole & wife Judy; sisters: Ann Hauser & husband Bobby, Janet Klindworth, Doris Shipman & husband Rick and Cathy Clark & husband Jim; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 7 step-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care and dedication from Donna Schlaikjer and the Nursing Staff at Specialty Hospital of Mid-America, Ken Simpson and his Staff at Odyssey Hospice, and Jess's Neighbors for their dedication, love and support.
Jim, Jenny & Barb would also like to thank their mom, Pat Hymer, for all of her love, support, and for being there with them everyday until their Dad passed.
