

Frederick “Jim” Lauritzen, 75, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2011 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4 at the funeral home.
Jim was born December 10, 1935 in Independence, Missouri to Terry and Mary Lauritzen. He was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. Jim worked as an insurance agent for Washington National for many years and then had a route for Kitty-Clover. Both he and Brenda, his wife of 33 years, received their GEDs later in life, after which Jim worked as a supervisor at the Kansas Turnpike, where he retired in 1998. Jim served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a hard worker and he especially enjoyed working in his yard.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Lauritzen, who passed in 2003 as well as his parents, Terry and Mary Lauritzen.
He is survived by his children, Gary Lauritzen, of the home; Larry Lauritzen and wife Sharon of Fort Worth, Texas; James Lauritzen and wife Amie of Overland Park, Kansas; Theresa Lauritzen of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, Barbara Sharp of Grain Valley, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Shahlee, Aubrey, Kaci, Jordan, Joshua, Megan, Peyton, Larry, Jr., Jamie and James, Jr.; one cousin Don Johnson of Kansas City, Kansas; and a special friend Karen Borden of Roeland Park, Kansas.
