John Elton Stone, Jr., age 81, formerly of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on April 18, 2023. A visitation for John will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 12:00 PM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112.
John was born in Kansas City, Kansas on August 8, 1941 to John Elton Stone, Sr. and Kathryn Elizabeth (Crossley) Stone. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1959 and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for four years. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he went on to get his bachelor's degree as a Landscape Architect at Kansas State University.
John then returned to the Kansas City area and worked for the City of Overland Park as a Park Planner until his retirement. Soon after he retired he moved to Minnesota where he made his home until he passed away.
