Joe was born to Joseph Anthony Valenti, Sr., and Ina H. (Nelson) Valenti on August 16, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1972.
Between being an accomplished builder and mechanic, he found a career as a “Jack of all Trades” mastering nearly everything he tackled, built and repaired. Joe worked at Harrah’s Casino for more than 25 years before retiring in 2019. He was a perfectionist in maintaining the grounds, casino and hotel, and made many friends throughout his career.
Joe was married to his wife Karen for nearly 44 years. Joe met Karen in 1981, and after a few weeks of dating, he asked her to be his bride. The couple were married on April 16, 1982 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Joe and Karen settled in Kansas City, Kansas, ultimately building a home on the family acreage together. Joe worked hard to provide for his family and in maintaining the home. He took pride in keeping his yard in meticulous condition and in his many building projects, including a two-story fort. Joe was quick to offer help to his family and friends. He tried to repair and refurbish just about anything.
Joe loved his children and told them so often. His favorite name was “PoPo” – he loved supporting and watching his granddaughter, Lauren, grow. The two had many successful fishing adventures together. Joe loved the summertime for growing tomatoes and grew strawberries just for Lauren. He liked western movies, sports cars, campfires, golf cart rides around their property and rooted for the Kansas City Chiefs his entire life.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Karen S. (Marshall) Valenti, Kansas City, KS; daughter Samantha (Eric) Carter and granddaughter, Lauren, Olathe, KS; son Joseph Valenti III, Broomfield, CO; brother Nicholas Valenti, Roaring Gap, NC; brothers-in-law John (Jennifer) Marshall, Allen, Texas, and Douglas (Amy) Marshall, Kansas City, KS; sisters-in-law Lisa Marshall, Julie Fisher, Beth (Keith) Hankinson, Rebecca (Terry) Droge, Kansas City, KS and Andrea (Todd) Wassmann, Platte City, MO; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
