Joyce graduated from Summer High School, where she pursued her passion for cosmetology. This led her to a successful career as the owner and operator of Hair Care Beauty Boutique. Later in her professional life, she also dedicated her skills as a computer operator for the Census Bureau.
In her spare time, Joyce found joy in creative pursuits such as painting and building intricate doff houses. She also enjoyed the mental stimulation of working crossword puzzles. Above all, she cherished spending quality time with her family.
On June 17, 1967, Joyce married Burnett H. Ambler Jr., and together they raised two children, Eric and Sonya. Earlier in her life, on April 11, 1964, Joyce was married to Richard Neely; this marriage was dissolved in 1966. Joyce was a loving and devoted mother to Eric and Sonya, and cherished her role as a grandmother. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
She is survived by her brother, Larry Block; her son, Eric Ambler (married to Sandra); and her daughter, Sonya Ambler (divorced). She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Marqus Wilson (and his wife, Toshia Hernandez Wilson), Terrill Wilson, and Jasmine Wilson, and Eric Ambler II and Erron Ambler, as well as her great-grandchildren, Trevyon Wright, Tymarius Wilson, Neo Wright, Chosen Wright, Malik Wilson, and Amaya Orange, along with a host of cherished cousins, uncles, aunts, and dear friends within the community.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Armedia Block; her father, A.O. Block; her brother, Adee Block Jr. (Sonny); and her sisters, Hattie L. Gilmore and Vernell Roberson.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Kansas City Hospice House for the compassionate and exceptional care provided to Joyce during her final days
