Juan was born on September 14, 1937, in Dixon, New Mexico to Amadeo and Estefanita Montoya. He was married to the love of his life, Ruth, and they were married for 64 years. Juan bid her farewell on October 1, 2019. He is now back with her for eternity.
Juan, or as we knew and loved him as John, had several trades throughout his years and retired from working for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1999. He loved spending time gardening along with Ruth. He enjoyed visiting family, camping, fishing, shopping, grilling chili, chopping wood for his wood stove, and fixing things around the house. His infectious smile and laughter passed through each generation. His silly faces, Spanish jokes and laugh will be greatly missed. We would laugh at his statements, “I guess a guy could” or “who said,”. He believed in God, had faith, prayed, and most of all he cherished his family.
Juan was preceded in death by his lovely wife Ruth, his parents, all his siblings, and two children – Lewis and Annette Romeo.
Juan is survived by his daughter, Lisa VanderVoort (Dirk) in KS, son, Frank Romero in AZ, Cathy Cornell in MN, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
