

Junior Leon “Huck” Huckaby, 75, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Wed., July 25 at home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment with military honors will follow the service. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be sent to KC Hospice or KU Cancer Center.
Junior was born Sept. 17, 1936 in Mt. Home, Arkansas to Cecil and Eva (Skiver) Huckaby. He married Evelyn Hannawald on August 6, 1957. He joined the army and was stationed on Marshall Island, in charge of bomb testing in the Nevada Desert for three years. Junior and his family relocated to KCK, where he went to work for CertainTeed Fiberglass, where he retired after 36 years of service. Since retirement, he and his wife had a passion for traveling in their 5th wheel camper. They traveled to Texas for the winters until his recent battle with cancer. Junior was a whiz with mechanics and often repaired and sold lawn mowers. He will be deeply missed by his entire family.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Cecil and one brother Gerald Dean Huckaby. He is survived by his wife Evelyn of 55 years, a brother Darrel Huckaby, two daughters Bobbie Blankenship of Excelsior Springs, MO, Debbie & Darrel Wilson of La Cygne, KS, one son Steve and Brenda Huckaby of Olathe; seven grandchildren, Bob & Misty Jones, Suni Frese, Clayton Blankenship, Darrel & Desiree Wilson, Tiffany & Austin Huckaby; five great-grandchildren, Brooke & Molly Jones, Natalie Frese, Mitchell Blankenship and Kenny Wilson.
