
Kristi Denise Horton was born May 6, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri to Lurie Horton Jr. and Janice Cox Horton. She was the second of three daughters. She was preceded in death by her eldest sister Audra Laverne Horton.She graduated from Sumner Academy of Arts and Science in 1988, where she played basketball, ran track, played the clarinet in the marching band. She was an accomplished pianist from a young age and she loved dancing. Kristi received an Associate of Arts degree from Donnelly College in 1994. She professed a belief in God at an early age, and was baptized at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, where she remained a member for several years. Her work experience included being a customer service Representative at AT&T for 8 years. She then transitioned to Quest Diagnostics where she remained for 15 years initially as a Specimen Processor. She advanced to a Group Lead Specimen Processor. Outside of work, Kristi had several hobbies. She loved to read, cook, and decorate. She was an avid Chiefs fan, and enjoyed watching basketball and WWE. Her number one love in life was her family. Kristi doted on both of her children, and enjoyed visits with her niece and nephew. Kristi departed this life on August 13,2017. Kristi leaves to cherish, one son Jordan C. Horton of Kansas City, Ks., one daughter, Ashyle N. Horton of Brooklyn, NY., parents, Lurie Horton Jr. and Janice Cox Horton of Kansas City, Ks; one sister, Monica Horton Sistrunk (Lewis) of Shawnee, Ks.; one brother- in- law, Lewis L. Sistrunk of Shawnee, Ks.; one neice, Taylor M. Roberts of Shawnee, Ks.; one nephew, Micaiah J. Noel of Shawnee, Ks.; one aunt, Gwendolyn Horton of Olathe, Ks.; one grandmother, Bessie L. Horton of Olathe, Ks. and a host of cousins and friends. Kristi's joyful and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. We give reverence to the dead through our service to the living.
