Larry was born on March 5, 1942, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Frank M. Martin and Eula F. (Lake) Weber. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Roberta (Bobbie) Martin, daughter, Diana (Doug) Beats and son, James (Cimberly) Martin; five grandchildren: Katherine (Adam) Brown, Amanda (Ivan Chan) Norris, Tristen, Gaven and Piersen Martin; five great grandchildren: Charlotte Norris, Jeremiah, Elijah and Grayson Brown and Lily Chan; his sister, Vicki (Robert) Naylor; nephew, Kevin (Hope) White and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry spent his younger years on the family farm in LaMonte, Missouri. At the age of seven, his family moved from LaMonte to Kansas City, Kansas, where his dad opened an auto body repair shop. Larry joined the United States Navy in 1960 and served four years of active duty. After leaving the service in early 1964, he worked for his father at the body shop, later purchasing the business from his dad. After closing the body shop, he worked for Deffenbaugh Industries for 15 years as the body shop foreman before retiring in 1997 due to health issues,
Larry loved to go on road trips, hunt, fish and go camping. He enjoyed smoking various meats and fish on the grill and bar-b-queing ribs for family. In retirement, he also learned how to cook and enjoyed trying out new recipes on his unsuspecting wife. His favorite thing to make was banana bread which he enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren.
