Larry Paul Pflumm was born on January 4, 1955, the 3rd child of Frank and Evelyn Pflumm's seven children. He loved his brothers and sisters - Frank, jr., Pam, Tammy, Don, Patty, and Kay - and liked being from a large family. He was the clown in the family, always cutting up, joking around, and making everyone laugh. He was a natural born salesman and was an instrumental part of Shawnee Mission Builder's Kitchen Center when it was opened in the 1970's. He loved fishing and racing his Mustang, but what he really loved were his two children, Larry and Amanda. He was always playing jokes on them and their friends and enjoyed kidding around with all of them. Larry had a reputation as the "cool dad" among his children's friends. Even if one of those friends stopped by when Little Larry and Amanda weren't home, Larry would offer them a coke and let them hang out; he was everyone's pal. Larry's sense of humor was larger than life, and so was his laugh. Everyone who ever met Larry commented on his big laugh. Sometimes when the kids were coming home from school, they commented that they could hear Larry's laugh coming from the house. He absolutely loved cruising "the Fe" at night in his Dominator Ford Mustang with his kids. They did that several nights a week, and everyone recognized Larry and his car. In fact, Larry's house was always known for having a Mustang (or two!) parked in front of it. Larry's compass in life was his wife, Brenda. They were married in 1978 and remained together until his passing on September 18, 2024. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Evelyn, his sister Pam, his brother Frank, jr., and his son Larry Doyle. The loss of his beloved "Little Larry" was something that Larry never fully recovered from, and comfort can be taken in their reunion last week. There was certain to have been laughter.
There will be a graveside service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N 94th Street, Kansas City, KS on Monday, October 7th at 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life to enjoy family, friends, food, and fond memories of Larry. The celebration will be at his home at 760 S Elm Street in Gardner, KS. The dress code is comfy, casual attire.
