Linda attended St. Patrick's grade school and Bishop Ward High School. It was during high school that she met Leonard York. They were married in December of 1966. Linda and Leonard raised three daughters over the course of their marriage, moving from Kansas City, Missouri to Los Angeles then San Francisco, California in pursuit of the American dream.
In 1983 they split, and Linda and her girls moved to Kansas City to be closer to family. Her daughters grew and left home, and Linda eventually returned to her childhood home, where she helped care for her aging parents. She remained in the home after their passing in 2002 and 2008, until she took her last breath on Friday evening.
Linda was a homemaker who also worked as a shop attendant at the snack food store she and Leonard opened next to Cleveland Chiropractic College early in their marriage as well as a restaurant Server later in life.
She loved Elvis Presley from the tender age of nine and was serenaded on her final path to Heaven by his music.
She enjoyed going to the bingo for many years at every Elk, Moose and VFW hall that offered one. She loved going to the casinos to play slots and found joy in walking out $20 ahead of what she went in with.
She enjoyed traveling with her daughters to locations like St. Louis, Memphis (especially Graceland), and Alaska. She had great reverence for Native American culture and beliefs.
Most of all, Linda was happiest when spending time with her three grandchildren and giving them hugs, kisses, gifts and the type of love that only a Grandmother can give.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Geraldine LeVota of Kansas City, Kansas; her brother and sisters Paula, Paul, Carla and Marie. She is survived by her daughters April York, Michelle York, and her namesake Linda York; her brother Joe LeVota (Rita); her grandchildren, Tristan York, Hunter Amego, and Laurel Amego; and her nephews, Mark LeVota and Patrick LeVota.
She will leave a great absence in the lives of those who knew and loved her, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of her loved ones.
Thank you to Sabrina for going well above and beyond what was asked of her and for being her "chauffeur", her casino buddy and her best friend.
Special thanks to her steadfast companion and caretaker Angie, who was with her to the very end, as promised.
