Malinda grew up in Shawnee, KS with her five siblings and was among the second class to graduate from Shawnee Mission Northwest in 1971. When she was in high school she was a volunteer Candy Striper at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. This sparked Malinda's love for serving others. She also worked as a CNA for John Knox Village, she was a cook at Askew Elementary, she cleaned houses while working for Cottage Care which led into her starting her own cleaning service. The clients she cleaned for became close friends and family.
Malinda married the love of her life Rocky Porter on September 4, 1972. They had three children, Gary, Robert and Joy. Her children say she was one heck of a pillow fighter. She loved her family dearly and prayed for them faithfully. When Malinda became a born again Christian she was eager to share the love of Jesus. One of the ways she would do this would be to show up in your time of need with her delicious homemade pot pie and a homemade dessert. Malinda was also very giving of her time and finances to bless others and her church. She previously attended Sheffield Family Life Center and was currently attending Evangel Church.
