Margie was born on August 16th, 1959 to Garland Smith Jr. and Ruby Bailey in their home-town of Kansas City, KS. She had a happy childhood and often recalled memories of spending time with her siblings. Margie graduated from Bonner Springs High School. Later she went on to study at KCKCC before deciding to begin a family.
Margie was a proud mother of five beautiful children. As a loving mother she enjoyed many years of picnics, drive-in movies, and eventful holidays. Margie was a dedicated Christian, friend and sister in Christ. Margie always put Christ first in her life and strived everyday to be a reflection of Christ's love through her kindness. Margie was reunited and married to Roger Stevenson, completing her family unit and gaining a love renewed; and a life-time partner in Christ.
Margie was a very dedicated employee. She was a supervisor in the Building and Logistics dept. for the Unified Gov. of Wyandotte County, KS. She considered her co-workers and employees an extension of her family and always made herself available to be a listening ear, an understanding and compassionate boss. Margie was loved and respected by many.
Margie is Preceded in death by her Grandparents- James & Katherine Bailey & Thelma Bryant Thompson, Parents- Garland & Ruby Smith.
Margie is survived by her Husband Roger Stevenson, Siblings - Jerome Smith, Etta Cox. Harold Smith & Gregory Smith, Children- April Ibizugbe Osayande, Gloria Brown, Carmen June, Dale Smith, Loretta Smith and Bonus children Phillip Brown and Roberta Smith, Grandchildren- Isaiah, Nehemiah, Israel, Phillip Jr, Elijah, Rochelle, Theo, Henry, Joshua & Journee.
A visitation will be held on December 30, 2025, from 8:00 am to 10:30 am at the First Baptist Church of Shawnee, located at 11400 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. The funeral service will follow at the same location, starting at 10:30 am.
A graveside service will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048 on December 30, 2025, beginning at 1:30 pm.
