

Mark was born September 6, 1982 to Chuck and Jan Brownson. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and Shawnee, Kansas with his siblings, Ann and Eric.
Mark was a great football player and started at an early age with Blue Jacket and Hawker Grove Middle School teams. He then played Defensive Tackle for Shawnee Mission North, where he graduated in 2001.
After graduation Mark went on to play for Hutchinson Community College and Ottawa University, both on football scholarships. He earned degrees in both Auto Mechanics and Business. Mark spent many years lifting weights which led him to be active in Strong Man Competitions. He placed Third in both Kansas and Missouri Strong Man competitions.
He was a gifted chess player and a talented mechanic. A little known artistic talent Mark had was doing Origami. He was quick and skillful at this. He was known for creating Origami pieces for kids in church who needed a little distraction.
Mark worked for Wal-Mart and FedEx for many years handling packages. For the last few years, he had been working for Kinney Plumbing doing plumbing work for new build construction. Mark had a passion for shooting and enjoyed watching the Royals, Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed other teams/sports.
As a teenager he was one of the founding members of Harvest Ridge Covenant Church. He was very active in running the audio equipment and in church setup. Mark was very opinionated and wasn’t scared of tough topics, but he was also a gentle and kind-hearted person. Mark would do anything for his friends and family and he will be deeply missed.
Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gordon and Naomi Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Orestes and Lois Brownson; as well as his long-time girlfriend, Amy Turner, who passed in November 2012.
Mark is survived by his parents, Charles and Janis Brownson; his sister, E. Ann Brownson; his brother, Eric Brownson and wife Nicole and their children, Remington, McKenna, and Slate; his dogs, Wilfred and Baxter; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00pm, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112.
