Mark was born on July 29, 1954, to Stuart and Marie Chandley in Kansas City, KS. He grew up in Bonner Springs, KS. and graduated from Bonner Spring High School. Following High School, he attended University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. where he received a degree in Wildlife Management.
He was married to Martha Chandley (Patterson) on March 14, 1981. They had two children together, Melissa and Melanie Chandley.
Mark worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years as a letter carrier. He retired from the USPS in October 2009. Retirement didn’t slow him down, it simply gave him more time to enjoy the things he loved.
He belonged to Judson Baptist Church for 45 years.
Mark had many interests. He was an avid reader and loved books. One of his hobbies was collecting cuckoo clocks. But his favorite things were outdoor activities. He liked fishing, running, camping, hiking, growing native plants, bird watching and creating bird feeding stations in his yard.
His family takes comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into eternal peace. Rest in peace, Mark. You were loved by many and will be missed.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Stuart and Marie Chandley; daughter, Melissa Marie Chandley; daughter, Melanie Lynn Chandley; sister, Marie Feleay; bother, Maurice Chandley, and twin brother Michael Chandley.
Mark is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha Jean Chandley (Patterson); sister, Susan (Chandley) Kelly and her husband Ron Kelly; Father and Mother in Law, Stephen and Linda Patterson; Sister in Law, Suzanne Chandley; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 -11:00 am on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. A service will follow at 11:00 am with graveside to follow Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
