Mary Christine MacNevin

Mary C. (Castaneda) MacNevin, 75, died April 27, 2025, at Villa St. Francis Catholic Care Center in Olathe, KS. Mary was born in Greensburg, KS on September 11, 1949 to Frank and Angelina (Espinosa) Castaneda. She graduated from Lewis High School in 1967 and moved to Olathe, KS in 1968 where she raised her family and served her community in several different capacities. Mary was known for her talent in decorating, always creating a beautiful and welcoming space in her home. Her love for flowers was evident in the vibrant arrangements she often displayed.

For the last 20 years, Mary ran a successful house cleaning business, where she was admired for her dedication and hard work. Her strong Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, Frank, and sister, Josephine. She is survived by her mother, Angelina, of Lewis, KS; son Timothy Smith of Olathe, KS; daughter Angela Smith of Kansas City, KS; brother Steve Castaneda of Wichita, KS; brother Philip (Julie) Castaneda of Topeka, KS; sister Theresa (Gary) Hargrove of Temple, TX; sister Frances Jarvis of Kinsley, KS; sister Michelle (Bill) DiGaetano of Temple, TX; sister Cruz Salyer of Olathe, KS; sister Marcella (Chris) Stewart of Arlington, TX; brother Marcus (Cyndy) Castaneda of Lewis, KS; brother Lorenzo (Kassie) Castaneda of Olathe, KS; sister Tricia (Andy) McGuire of Tulsa, OK; one grandson, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter; dozens of nieces and nephews.
