Mary Louise Walls, age 83, of Kansas City, KS passed away Saturday, February 1st at KU Med Center with her family by her side. Born in Kansas City, KS in 1941, the “2nd born” of 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She learned to be “self sufficient” at an early age with such a large family. She lived her entire life in “The Dotte”. Mary raised a family of 6 and lived in St Patrick’s Village for over 50 years. While being “Mom” for her children over those years, she juggled odd jobs finally finding her true “work” love in 1981 – driving a school bus for USD 500. Mary’s love for kids and young adults spread over her 25 year career transporting elementary children through high school students daily. She retired in 2006 to enjoy life.
After retiring, she enjoyed morning coffee with her sister Joanne, doing crafts with her daughters Michelle, Rebecca, and daughter in laws Sandy, Maisie along with anyone who wanted to join. Then there were her grandchildren, the loves of her life. She was known as “Grandma Gucci & MeMaw” to her 13 grand / great grandchildren. Chelsea, DJ, Makayla, Jamison, Jordan, Emma, Ciara, Sabrea, Caitlin, Dylan, Grant, Jaxon, and her great grandchild Kasey, all had special and individual relationships with their Grandma.
The holidays were always filled with fun and random hilarious comments by our Mom.
Mary is survived by sisters, Joanne Martin, Roxanne McDaniel, Judy Tavner. Sons, Don Stack II, Mark Stack, Brian Stack, and Brandon Walls. Daughters, Michelle Freeman and Becky Walls and her puppies Charlie and Pepe.
