Merle Leroy Stambaugh, 69, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Merle was born to Archie Ralph and Cynthia Maureen (Cash) Stambaugh on October 24, 1947. He resided in Wyandotte County before settling permanently in Olathe with his wife, Phyllis. Merle was a graduate of Wyandotte High School. He worked for Sprint as a computer programmer prior to his retirement in 2005. Merle could often be found golfing or fishing and was an avid collector of baseball cards. He loved all things baseball and especially enjoyed listening to baseball games on the radio.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Cynthia; and wife, Phyllis. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Michalls of Basehor, Kansas; son, Keith Stambaugh; daughter, Michelle Lindsay; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren all residing in Wyandotte County.
Services for Merle will be held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, 66112 on Monday, November 7th with the visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., funeral service at 11:00 a.m. and interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
