

Minnie V. Babicki, 94, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 5th, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas 66104.
Minnie was born August 17, 1919 in Kansas City, Kansas to William and Edith (Stearns) Wiggins, and she was a lifelong area resident. In her early years, she worked as a Clerk at the Toy Counter for Kresgee Drug Store, which she did for 5 years before starting her career with International Paper, where she worked for 16 years, before retiring as an Inspector. Minnie was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas, where she was once active in the Go Getters Club. She was a member of the Wyandotte County Democratic Club, and was a local League Bowler for many years. In addition to bowling, Minnie enjoyed playing scrabble, crocheting, and flower gardening. She loved all kinds of animals, but she was especially fond of her cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael E. Babicki, when he died in 1992; 2 sons-in-law, Emil L. Flenker, Jr. and Charles R. Hamilton; 1 grandson, Michael D. Flenker; as well as her 9 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia L. Flenker of Kansas City, Missouri, Theresa S. Hamilton of Kansas City, Kansas, and Judy A. Fields, and her husband David Fields of Lakeland, Colorado; 3 grandchildren, Randy L. Flenker, Dennis L. Hamilton, and Anne R. Hamilton; as well as many great and great-great grandchildren.
