Rex W. Newbold, 80, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015. Visitation will be Thursday, November 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Funeral will be Friday, November 6th at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow services at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Rex was born in Anderson County, Kansas in 1935 to Thomas and Etta Newbold. He attended Wyandotte High School class of 1955. Rex received his Bachelors of Science and Master’s degrees from Emporia State University and taught at Central Jr. High School and Washington High School. Rex volunteered at Call for Action. He was married to Vera Mae on September 30, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma and Phi Gamma Mu fraternities.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Eugene and Richard Newbold. He is survived by his wife, Vera Mae; daughter, Jenny (Gary) Pierce; grandson, Nicholas; step-grandson, David John (Stephanie) and two step-great-granddaughters, Eden Johns and Elizabeth McKenzie Johns, plus many nieces and nephews.
