Robert Edward Valdepena

Bob was born on May 21, 1938 to Bernard and Marguerite in Kansas City, Missouri. Bob was the fourth child in a family of thirteen children. He was predeceased by seven siblings and is survived by five.

In 1959, Bob met Laura in Kansas City, Missouri and they were married in 1960 at St. Thomas Catholic church in Kansas City, Kansas and would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in October. They went on to have three daughters Denise Valdepena, Renee Miller (Theron), and Lisa Armatas (Bret); 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Daughter Renee passed away in 2020.

He loved his family. His greatest joy were his grandchildren. He was thankful that he was able to share in their childhood and have fun with them sometimes acting like a child himself. It seems that each one of the grandchildren had a shared interest with Bob such as music, baking, household repair projects, gardening and joking. He was very proud of the connections. The great-grandchildren were a wonderful addition to Bob’s joys. He thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow and was happy that he was included in their lives. He was definitely a family man. If you wanted to make Bob smile just mention his grandchildren.

Bob retired from the Kansas City, Kansas Housing Authority and was previously employed at Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a supervisor at both facilities. Bob enjoyed sketching, gardening, was very adept at woodworking and skilled at solving mechanical problems. He was passionate about music, especially the blues and artists like BB King and Johnny Cash. He had a massive music library on his computer.

A Rosary for Robert will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Followed by his funeral service. His interment will be at 12:15 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Then please join the family at Danny's Bar and Grill for continued fellowship and food.
