Roger Leo Williams was born on September 25, 1940 to Harold and Marguerite Williams. He received his education in the New York School District. After completing school, he entered into a commitment with the United States Navy where he served until he was honorably discharged. After leaving the Navy, his journey continued to Oakland, California where he started his employment with General Motors (G.M.). He met the love of his life, Ida and later they were joined in Holy Matrimony. Roger’s career took them to Kansas City, Kansas where he served dutifully until his retirement. Soon after he began working for the USD 500 and after 10 years, he retired. After retirement, he was able to focus on his passion in life, “Serving the Lord.”

In February 2013, being guided by the Holy Spirit, Roger and Ida joined Guiding Star M.B.S under the leadership of Pastor David Lee, where he served faithfully. He joined the Mass Choir, Male Chorus, and served on the Deacon board where he served until his home going.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marguerite Williams; and one son, Isiah Spearman, Jr., nephew Siddhartha Blalock.

He leaves behind to cherish, his loving wife, Ida; his daughters, Gina Lee of Oakland, CA and Angela Spearman – Martin of Dallas, TX; his son, Achebe Bridges of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Janice Williams – Pile of Brooklyn, NY and Joyce (Albert) Blalock of Manhattan, NY; one brother-in-law, Reverend William Barker Sr. (Nadine) of Oakland, CA; sister-in-laws, Lillie Edwards of Lenexa, KS and Rose Nolen of Richmond, CA; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends along with this Guiding Star Church Family.
