Rose Marie Cecena age 90, passed away peacefully on February 1st 2026. She leaves behind a presence that will be felt forever by those who were blessed enough to truly know her. Her life was one of devotion, commitment and a love that ran far deeper than words.
Rose Marie was born on April 22, 1935 to Joseph & Jessie Amayo Sr. She married the love of her life Antonio Cecena Jr on January 1st 1957. Their marriage was one of true partnership, built on love, laughter and an unwavering commitment. Together they shared countless memories and a bond that only deepened over time.
Rose Marie worked for K-Mart Corp. She was a sales associate and then promoted to Manager of the men's department, she retired after 30yrs. She found joy in assisting her customers by finding that perfect outfit for those special holidays or just every day wear. Rose Marie enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family on Sundays and loved her many trips to Mexico and San Antonio for the fiestas.
Rose Marie was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Jessie Amayo Sr; brother Joseph Amayo Jr and her loving husband of 68yrs Antonio Cecena Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Monica (Robert) Perez, Anthony (Donna) Cecena and Michael (Rose Ann) Cecena. Many nieces, nephews, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff of The Gardens at Barry Road, Villa St. Francis Nursing Home and to Ascend Hospice for the excellent service and care of Rose Marie.
Visitation on Thursday February 5th, 2026 11:00 am at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. 66112. Mass of Christian Burial 12:15 pm same location. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th Street, Kansas City, KS 66102
