Sandra “Sandie” Ruth Buccheri-Wiebe, 75, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on April 7, 2026 at 11:13am. She passed peacefully after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer, remaining positive throughout.
She was born on November 13, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas to William Samuel "Sam" and Levina “Sally” Ruth Rice née Martin.
She graduated from Westport High School in 1968 and UMKC in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She immediately began teaching, but later followed her dream of becoming an international flight attendant and enjoyed world travel with TWA. With her sister Stacy, she co-owned and operated the "Shape Shop" from 1980 to 1984 before finishing her career as a social worker for over 20 years, retiring from the KS Department of SRS in 2006.
She cherished time with her family, especially beach vacations, and enjoyed camping and sailing with her husband. Above all, she loved her two sons and her granddaughter with all her heart. Sandie was unwavering in her support of others, always putting those around her before herself.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Wiebe, with whom she shared over 40 wonderful years; her two sons, Justin (Erin) and Joshua (Alli) Buccheri; her granddaughter, Kayla Buccheri; her 4 sisters Sonja Clark, Shelly Stock (Dan), Sherry Underwood (Tim), and Stacy Rice-Cabrera (Larry). She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sheila Rice.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 13th at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112. Visitation is from 12:00-1:00pm with the service to follow. If you wish to send flowers, Sandie had a special fondness for yellow roses and various purple flowers.
Sandie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Buccheri, Justin Buccheri, Arthur Dachiardi, and Adam Clark.
