Shane Ralph Edward Denton, 38, of Merriam, Kansas passed away on May 13, 2025. Shane was born on June 3, 1986, to Bobbi Grant Denton and Ralph Denton in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He grew up in Merriam, Kansas where he attended South Park Elementary School and Hocker Grove Middle School. He was active in sports his entire youth, playing football, baseball, practicing karate, and becoming a championship wrestler while in high school. After graduating from Olathe North High School in 2004, Shane enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and deployed to Iraq in 2006. He served his country with honor and fought courageously for our freedom. After leaving the Marines, he trained and competed for several years in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He loved Bruce Lee films and was a self-proclaimed ninja. One of his favorite activities that began in childhood and carried into adulthood was roller skating. Shane owned his own pair of speed skates and regularly visited local skating rinks to let loose and enjoy time with friends.
Shane was, as most know, a wild man who never stopped moving. He is vividly remembered as being compassionate, helpful, consistent, trustworthy, reliable, & above all…kind. He had an unassuming disposition about him that was magnetic. If you knew Shane, you knew he was beyond generous, would help anyone that needed it, and had a soft spot for animals. His captivating smile lit up any room he entered. It was big and wide, and he couldn’t control it. His eyes sparkled and with just one grin, you could almost feel your heart skip a beat. His authenticity left an impression.
His biggest love was his 1964 Ford Mustang Fastback built by his father, Ralph. Shane was a skilled welder and carpenter—he was known to be a jack-of-all-trades and could build anything. Handmade gifts were his personal favorite, he loved making those closest to him smile with memorable gifts from the heart. He is survived by his parents Bobbi Grant Denton and Ralph Denton of Merriam, KS. His siblings Grant Denton and Grace Jones, niece Olivia Graham, and his brothers-in-arms BJ Jones and Daniel Jeffers.
