Shirley Marie Allen - Fulton

Shirley Marie Allen-Fulton, 84, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away July 7, 2016. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, July 15th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 16th at the funeral home, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association or the American Heart Association.

“Squirrelly” Shirley was born July 15, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas to Frank and Odessa Hilgardner. She attended Wyandotte High School and started her family. Shirley loved redecorating her home and taking care of her family. She worked at Price Chopper as a cashier for many years and enjoyed playing Bunko and bowling at Ranch Bowl. Shirley loved shopping and going out to eat, especially Chinese buffet. Her granddaughter said that, “Heaven gained an extremely loving, silly, headstrong, beautiful, creative, sassy, caring and ornery angel.” Shirley’s favorite things were laughter, roses and her perfume, Chantilly lace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Odessa Hilgardner; her daughter, Angela Marie Sanchez; and her brothers, Robert Hilgardner, and Frank W. Hilgardner.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Barbara Summers, Candace “Candy” Bean and her husband Kenneth “Judge Roy” Bean, and April Howard; her lifelong friend, Ross Attkisson; her eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren; as well as two dogs, Artie and Benji, and many other family members and friends.
