

Shirley Jean Bailey, 84, of KCK, passed away June 19, 2014. Visitation will be from noon-1:30 p.m., Monday, June 23rd, Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK, with funeral services at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Kaw Council or St. Luke’s Hospice House.
Shirley was born November 20, 1929 in KCK to George and Florence Pearson. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1947 and married the love of her life, Robert C. Bailey on November 3, 1951. Shirley was a member of the University United Methodist Church and was their financial secretary for eighteen years and later in life, wrote for the internet magazine the “Common Conservative” for over ten years. She enjoyed playing online bridge and writing limericks and poems; she also enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was especially proud of her grandchildren’s accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert C. Bailey, Sr., her brothers, George and Jack Pearson and her sister, Ruth Pearson.
Shirley leaves behind her two children, Carol Reid (Rusty) of KC, MO and Robert Bailey, Jr. (Phyllis) of LaCygne, KS; grandchildren, Melissa McKenzie, Ben Reid, Justin Reid, Lindsey Reid-Cole, Don Bailey, R.C. Bailey, and Sheila Bailey; as well as great-grandchildren, Nathan Cole, Maya Bailey, Emery Grace Bailey, Ethan Reid and Jaelyn Reid.
