

Shirley M. Cox, 96, passed away October 5, 2015. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 9th at 10:00am at Maple Hill Cemetery, 2301 S. 34th St., KCKS 66106. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 10th at 10:00am at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, 415 W. 13th St., KCMO 64105.
Shirley was born November 15, 1918 to Don and Marie (Scott) Gaddy. She graduated from Wyandotte High School before marrying D. Alan (Doggie) Cox on September 29, 1939. Together, they had 2 children, Donna and David. Shirley was a member of the Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral and participated in the Holy Hands program. Shirley enjoyed reading, art and genealogy. She was a member of the Wyandotte County Art Association. Her 9th paternal great-grandfather was Captain Raleigh Crowshaw of Jamestown and her 8th and 9th maternal great-grandfathers were Stephan and Giles Hopkins of the Mayflower.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Marie Gaddy; husband, D. Alan (Doggie) Cox; and son-in-law, Leonard Hemrich. She is survived by daughter, Donna Hemrich; son, David Gaddy-Cox; grandchildren, Annette Hemrich and Jeremy Cox and great-grandchildren, David Criger, Christian Criger, Joshua Cox, Noah Langston and Caleb Langston.
