Charles Andrew Simpson Jr., 94, of Merriam, KS passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the many different organizations that Charlie was a devoted member of. Charlie was born on March 5, 1916 in Kansas City Mo. to Charles A. Sr. and Emma (Gumper) Simpson. He lived in the Kansas City area all his life. He served his country honorably in the U. S. Navy as a radio technician. Charlie was a Life Member of the VFW Post #7026. He served as a member of American Legion #0370, Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Kansas, Independent Order Of Odd Fellows and Order Of Eastern Star/Sherman Chapter #8. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha (Redford) Simpson, sisters: Elda Horstman, Evelyn Carter and Virginia Boatman. Survivors include his loving sister Bonnie Vossler and her husband Norman and brother Kenneth E. Simpson. Uncle Buss will be sadly missed by all of his nieces and nephews.
