

Stanley Martez Taylor was born to Lawrence and Vivian Taylor on January 8, 1957, in Kansas City, Kansas. Growing up in a. family rooted in enduring principles, Stanley maintained a close, devoted relationship with his parents and siblings throughout his life. Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was known for his generous heart, constantly extending his support and love to everyone around him. As a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS, Stanley accepted Christ into his heart and was baptized, signifying his personal and public commitment to follow Jesus.
After graduated from F.L. Schlagle High School in 1975, Stanley's standout performance in both the classroom and on the basketball court earned him scholarship to attend college in Tyler, TX.
Stanley welcomed his daughter, Monique "Nickie", in June 1984. Although Nickie moved to Florida in 1993, she would spend summers and holidays visiting her Dad. They shared a close relationship and connected deeply over a shared love for art, home design renovation projects, and creative ideas. He remained a devoted and loving father throughout his life.
Stanley worked at Lone Star Cement Company for 13 years until their closure. February 1991 was the start of rewarding career at the Kansas City Kansas Board of Public Utilities, of which he was extremely proud. Some of Stanley's greatest friendships were formed with those he worked alongside for years. Stanley retired from BPU in 2015 after 24 years of service.
Following retirement Stanley found joy tending to his yard, earning him 'Yard of the Week' awards, and cruising around in his Black Corvette. But nothing brought him greater joy than the time he shared with his granddaughter, Camille. Their relationship was marked by a deep and special bond, bringing him endless joy, pride, and love in every moment spent with her.
Stanley is survived by his beloved Daughter, Monique "Nickie" (Camaron), Granddaughter, Camille; Siblings, Brenda (Isaac), Lawrence Anthony (LaTanya), Jeffrey, and Shawn; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength and love that will continue to live on through them.
Stanley is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Eldridge Taylor. Willie Thomas Taylor, Leslie Wilborn, Searina Wilborn. Parents. Lawrence and Vivian Taylor, Brother-In-Law, Isaac Jackson.
A man of rear warmth, Stanley was a pillar of strength, a loving mentor, and a friend to all. He touched countless lives with his thoughtful, forgiving nature, leaving a lasting joyous impression on everyone he encountered. His Kindness extended far beyond his family. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and love. Every countless memory will be cherished and held in our hearts forever.
A funeral service will be held at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, located at 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, 66112, on February 11, 2026, starting at 11:00 am. The service will also be available via live stream at [https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/c26021901015299].
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, 66112, at 12:30 pm on the same day.
