Dear Tammy and family,

We just found out about Tim’s passing. Please accept our condolences. We wish that we had found out sooner and we would have definitely acknowledged it sooner.
Rick has talked about years that they spent working at Wyandotte County Lake. He always said how much fun that it was working and hanging out with Tim, Denny, Denny, Keith, Manion and Max.

Tammy, I just found out about your loss.  My condolences to all the family.  The times spent with you and Tim were short but he always had a laugh.  I guess him and Wayne are up there telling fishing stories.  Sorry I didn’t find out sooner to pay my respects in person.

For my whole life I knew grandpa Tim as just that, another grandpa. There was never a time that I didn’t think of him that way. He seemed like a grandpa and a dad to anyone who would surround him. He extended his family to me and mine and it was felt. I was always astonished by grandpa Tim’s consideration for me when I saw him at family events. I may not see him for months and then he would ask me, by name, about the horse I raised. He would always say “How is Rosy?” every time I saw him. This may seem insignificant and rather small but the fact that he remembered, every time, something that meant so much to me was incredible and really a testament to his character. I loved grandpa Tim and just hearing his voice in the other room when he arrived for family holidays and celebrations would light up my heart. He was the perfect example of how family is not always defined by blood.

I want to express my most sincere sympathy to the Porterfield family.  Although I did not know you personally, I've heard many stories over the years from my brother Len Knotz.  I know  you all shared a special friendship with Len & his wife Chris  for many many  years.  May Tim rest in peacefully in the arms of our good Lord.  God bless the Porterfield family during this difficult time.

Thirty years ago, when offered a job that meant relocation to an unfamiliar area of the country, one big reason I didn't hesitate to accept was the pending strengthening friendship of Tim, a former coworker, and Tammy, who both welcomed me into their family.  The familial connection has endured even though I left Kansas after nine years there.  Tim will certainly be missed; condolences to all.

Tim our hearts are so sadden with your loss, but we will remember the good times we shared with you and Tammy.   Thank you for always caring about our neighborhood and making the world a better place.   We miss you already.

Among many other things, he was always my biggest supporter and cheerleader. He would do anything for his grandkids and always enjoyed seeing them grow and succeed in life. I love you so much grandpa 🤍

Tammy, Julie, Sarah, John, Jake, and great & great-great grand kids,  I am so saddened to hear of Tim's passing. I was welcomed by your family as the little neighbor girl many, many years ago. The neighbor girl going door to door to sell stuff, who ended up coming back time and time again to bake and dance in the living room with Tammy, babysit the grandkids during Bible study, and so much more.  Your family has always been so good to us Littles. Tim was always witty and a joy to be around! He will be missed deeply by all that knew him. Sending you all hugs and keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.

I didn't know him well. I made his aquiantence one day while helping to install HVAC equipment at his home a few years back.  We worked at his home all day.  He was knowledgeable,  extremely warm and kind,  and had a heart of gold. 

You don't meet many people that are genuinely like that in your life time. He was one of the limited number of greats that I had the honor of meeting. On that day, he talked to me with no  reservations,  he and his adoring wife fed me, and made me feel as comfortable as ever in their home. 

I can only wish I can aspire to be as good as he was to me that day. I'll never forget it.
