

Virginia I. Hammar, 94, of Paola, passed away April 12th. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 17th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 18th at the funeral home, with Interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In honor of her volunteer work there, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action, 1600 Washington Blvd, Kansas City, KS 66102.
Virginia was born March 23, 1920 in Concordia, KS to Benjamin and Hazel Clark. She lived in KCK for most of her life and moved to Paola over 10 years ago. Virginia married the love of her life, Oscar Hammar on April 20, 1938. She took excellent care of her home and loved to crochet, sew, quilt and spend time with her family at their lake house on Lake Pomme De Terre. Virginia’s family and church was everything to her and she was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Paola.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Oscar, and her brother, Leon Clark.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Linda Shatto of Paola, Rebecca Cleveland of KCK, Delores Wood of KCK and Connie Terrell (Michael) of Olathe, KS; her son, Steven Hammar (Robin) of Paola; as well as fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great great-grandchildren, other friends and family.
