William “Bill” Emery Sharp, 82, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026. Bill was born on January 5, 1944, in Sarasota, Florida. He lived a full and meaningful life defined by service, dedication, and a lasting legacy of love reflected in the children he raised and the family he built.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lena Sharp Perry and Emery “Barney” Harry Sharp; his stepfather, John Bernis Perry; his beloved aunt, Opal Pauline Decker Phillips; his sister, Margaret Vesta Williams (CSM LB Williams); her children, Marlena Opal Williams Olson and David Allen Williams; his granddaughters, Melissa Webster and Raven Allison; his stepson, Dennis Dodson; and his son, William “Willy” Emery Sharp II.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bill served his country during the Vietnam War with honor and distinction. His service reflected a life grounded in duty, discipline, and quiet strength. Bill was a kind and loving man who truly embraced life. He found joy in boating, traveling the country in his RV, and connecting with others as a dedicated ham radio operator (N0CDN). He enjoyed swimming, tying flies, and the peaceful art of fly fishing. Known for his remarkable skill and resourcefulness, Bill could repair just about anything—a true handyman whose talents were a blessing to family, friends, and neighbors alike.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Barbara Ann Sharp; his children, Tammy Young (David), Phillip Dobson (Carol), Merrill Allison Jr. “JR” (Michelle), and Tracy Sharp-Robertson (Rev. Fred C. Robertson); along with nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his nephew, David Allen Williams (Melody), and extended family members and dear friends.
Bill will be remembered for his steady presence, his generous spirit, and the way he expressed love through action—through the things he built, repaired, and restored, and through the many lives he touched along the way. “Blessed are those who die in the Lord…that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.” — Revelation 14:13 William Emery Sharp, N0CDN, is now a Silent Key. 73 SK.
