Addie Mae Knox Ryals-Rider

Addie Mae Ryals-Rider, age 86, of Kansas City, Platte County, Mo., entered peacefully into life eternal on October 11, 2010, at Cherry Hills Nursing Facility. Born Addie Mae Knox, she was the second of nine children born to Thora Corlee Knox and William David Knox on March 6, 1924, in Milford, Barton County, Mo. The family moved to a farm in Butler, Bates County, Mo., where she went to a one-room country school for the first four years. Then, she went to Butler Grade School and High School. After graduating from Butler High School, she came to Kansas City, Mo., to attend a business school and later to court reporting school (Midwest Stenotype). She was an official court reporter for the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri, at Kansas City for 25 years. She retired June 30, 1988. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lincoln Rider; four sisters; Lois Veree Reardon, Raytown, Mo., Thelma Blanford, Butler, Fern Shirley, Stover, Mo., Margie Henderson of Olathe, Kan.; three brothers, Harold Knox, Archie, Mo., Melvin Knox, Urich, Mo., and Eldon Knox of rural Archie. Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Johnson; two grandchildren, Ryan Patrick Berg (Jill) and Angela Christine Covington (Todd) and three great grandsons, Riley Ethan Covington, Zachery Paul Berg and Joseph Ryan Berg, Kansas City; a sister, Nadine Mattingley, Archie; an aunt, Maxine Leimkuehler (Irvan) of Harrisonville, Mo.; nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Rd., KCMO. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at The Hosanna Lutheran Church, 2800 A Highway, Liberty, MO 64068. Graveside service 2 p.m. Thursday, at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Mo.
