

Alfonso Zarabia Serrano, formerly of Kansas City, died in Harlingen, Tx., on Nov. 3, a day after he turned 88. Al was born in Sparks, NV, raised in Mexico and was a U.S. Army veteran from World War II. In Kansas City he married Mary Elizabeth Lyons; together they raised five children. Al sold real estate and worked at the General Motors plant in Leeds. His children are Teresa J. (Jim) Gorham, Montgomery Village, Md., Richard A. (Elise) Serrano, Fairfax, Va., Stephen C. (Diana) Serrano, Lee's Summit, Jeffrey M. (Connie) Serrano, Blue Springs, and Mary Beth (Chris) Melnik, Valrico, Fl.; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and wife, Elyse Lynn Serrano. The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 8th with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd.. The Christian Mass of Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 9th at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 11th and Broadway, downtown Kansas City. Lunch will be provided at 11 a.m. at the cathedral, with a noon procession to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, Mo. Condolences may be submitted at www.mcgilleystatelinechapel.com
