No funeral service is planned. Graveside rites for burial of the cremains may be held at a later date at Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg, MO.
Alice was born June 13, 1932 on a farm west of Harris, MO to Rufus J. and Tobitha M. Jackson Moore Sanders. She attended rural schools in Mercer and Grundy county and graduated from Trenton High School in 1949. After high school she worked as a secretary to Trenton High School Principal, Ed Geyer and Superintendent of Trenton Schools, Samuel Rissler. From 1954-1956 She was Registrar of Trenton Junior College.
On June 8, 1952, in Trenton, MO, Alice was married to Harry W. Bratton who survives. In the summer of 1956 they moved to Columbia, MO where she raised daughter Marilyn and worked full time as a secretary to the Personnel Manager at the MFA Insurance Company while Harry attended Engineering School at the University of Missouri. In 1960 Alice, Marilyn and Harry moved to Grandview, MO where she began work as a secretary in the Personnel Department at the Western Electric Pilot Plant. She retired in 1988 as Executive Secretary to the General Manager of the AT&T Plant in Lee’s Summit, MO.
One of Alice’s favorite activities was traveling. She and husband, Harry, visited many places in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, took five cruises and toured in Europe eight times. Also, she greatly enjoyed her activities with the “BBs,” a group of nine secretaries she worked with at Western Electric and AT&T for 28 years.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, step-sisters Vema Moore Riggs of Osgood, MO, Imogene Moore Norquis of the state of Washington and step-brother Christopher Sanders of Pueblo, Colorado.
Alice is survived by her husband, Harry, daughter Marilyn and husband Mark Wade, grandson Christopher Piker, granddaughter Jennifer and husband Rob June, great-grandson Alex June, step-grandson Steven Wade and wife Krystle, step-great-granddaughter Shakota Wade, step- granddaughter Danielle and husband Dr. Michael Semchyshyn and step-great-grandson Lane.
