Alice Ann King

Alice Ann King passed away on February 3, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Overland Park, KS. She was 86 years of age. Alice was born in Kansas City, MO. on January 25, 1930 to Clifford and Louise Strifler. Alice began studying dance at a young age, performing at the Kiddie Revue in Downtown Kansas City. Later, Alice helped to serve her country by performing with the United Service Organization (USO). Upon graduation in 1948 from Paseo High School, Alice attended Kansas City Junior College where she mastered her shorthand and typing skills. After college, Alice began working at The Kansas City Union Station where she met her husband, Victor Lee King. The couple married on December 16, 1961, enjoying fifty-five years of marriage. During this time, Alice and Victor raised two daughters, Lee Ann and Mary Louise. While the couple’s daughters were young, Alice quit work in order to devote herself to being a full time mom. Later, Alice spent over twenty years, until her retirement, working as a Dictaphone operator for Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Alice was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who considered her faith and her family her greatest blessing and joy. Her parents, Clifford and Louise Strifler, and her sisters, Helen Rulle and Marjorie McCarthy, preceded her in death. Her husband, Victor L. King of Overland Park, KS. and their two daughters survive Alice, Lee Ann King of Olathe, KS. and Mary Sibert (Mike) of Peculiar, MO. Also surviving are seven grandchildren that she loved dearly: Lev, Misha, Rachael, Rebecca, Luke, Cara, and Jacob.

A private graveside service for Alice will be held at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Alice’s favorite charity, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
