Amalia Mendoza, 92, Liberty, MO, passed away November 17, 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy Country Home. Memorial Mass will be 10:15 AM Tuesday, November 23rd at the chapel of Our Lady of Mercy Country Home where a rosary will be prayed at 9:45 AM. Inurnment will take place in Spain. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the Mercedarian Missionaries Retirement Fund, c/o Our Lady of Mercy Country Home.
Amalia was born January 3, 1918 in Jaen, Spain. She was a school teacher teaching in Spain and Milwaukee, WI, a missionary in the Micronesian Islands, and Ecuador, before retiring in 2001 to Our Lady of Mercy Country Home. Amalia was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Ana Mendoza; brother, Ramon Mendoza and sister-in-law, Antonia Mendoza; brother, Fr. Juan Mendoza, SJ; and a sister, Sr. Ana Mendoza, MMB.
Survivors include her sister, Sr. Dolores Mendoza, MMB; and 2 brothers, Fr. Jose Mendoza, SJ and Fr. Jesus Mendoza, SJ; 3 nephews and 2 nieces, and numerous great nieces and nephews; and one great grand nephew.
