More than 10 long years since I lost Tia Pao...the most heavenly presence in my life.   Tia Pao, was the center of my Family, whom I left behind when I moved to Omaha, in 1976.  She was where I would go 1st when visiting.  Her call or a birthday card would harken back to the times I was growing up in her Mom's house...my MamaGrande Dona Cruz Moreno de Garcia.  How I miss Tia Pao...yet...how proud and grateful I feel when I connect with her children and the times I visited and connected with Tio Joe "Grandote" Bernal...el Hombre that married my Tia...he too was so good to me....Rest in Peace Tia Mia...say hello to Mom and Dad and the rest of our Family that dwells in Heaven................Chato

Mama, it's been almost 6 months and no day is easier than the last.  I miss you so much mama and just wanted to say that I'm sorry for the grief, hurt and pain that I put you thru.  As my loving Mother I know you would say, "Love means never having to say your sorry."  Miss you so very much MAMA.  Love you.

Time has passed since the passing of Amparo Maria Garcia Bernal.  My pain has not, however lessened.  Tia Pao, represented to me a connection to a time when life was very much a journey of survival.  Tia Pao, was a survivor.  Having grown up on the West Side, the oldest daughter of la Dona Cruz Garcia, along with sisters Cruz Garcia, Mary and Socorro Flores.  Her life as a woman began when she met, truly, the love of her life, Jose' Bernal, a Mexican national and radio disc jockey whom she met while on a visit to Chihuahua with her Mother, la Dona Cruz.  Tia Pao, never lived in the past.  My memories of her were one of a driven housewife, a hands on Mother, a hard working member of her very large Mexican American family.  Her heart was as big as her love for everyone who entered the Garcia family through marriage.  No greater friend was found when the Delatorre, the Aviles, Loya, Rios, Estevez's joined la Familia. When I left Kansas City, in 1976, Tia Pao, remembered my birthday and on my frequent visits,always welcomed me back home. Tia Amparo, never lived in the past because she understood  how important it was to forge a path built on caring and nurturing as the rest of us clamored for our own place in the Sun. My loss is profound because there will never be someone like Amparo.....your loving nephew.........Jose' "Joe Chato Frank" Garcia Rios

My beautiful mother-there are no words, none...that could describe the legacy you left for all of us.  I feel great comfort in knowing that i know your in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ and that you are finally at peace and no more hurt and pain!  You are a new Amparo-Mama-and I know that you could never be happier than to be reunited with the loved ones who left before you.  You were an angel on earth and you earned your wings way above and beyond your mama duty call---now you are a heavenly angel that will forever infinity be with each and every one of us you left behind.  You passed on my 50th birthday, but you waited just to let me know you remembered....a celebration of life for you will be honored for the rest of my life on my birthday!  I miss you my heart yet I know you will always...always...be watching over us!  I love and miss you mama but to know your are at rest gives me peace.  Please come to me in my dreams like you promised!  God Bless You Mi Corazon!!!

I just learned of the passing of Mrs. Bernal. I'm so sorry for your loss.  She raised wonderful children - as each time I would see any of them at church, school, the neighborhood or the gym they always said hello.  A testament to the love and kindness she and Mr. Bernal taught them.  I remember her smiling kindness at church, too.  May you find comfort knowing she was loved.

The most beautiful Psalm of all Psalms! I can attest to every word you wrote about your mother, for I was one of those individuals (and my brother Chris) who was touched by your mother! She welcomed us with open arms and always made us feel like "family." When she would grab a hold and squeeze my hand, I felt her loving warmth. I always felt that she was an Angel sent by God, and she indeed touched lives more than she realized. I'm sorry I could not be there for her services, but my soul was there. In many ways she reminded me of mine and my brother's mother, who passed when we were 9 and 10. Like your mother's favorite Psalm, our mother's was Psalm 23, and I've memorized it to this day. Like your beautiful mother, our mother dedicated her life, although cut short at 33 years, to those less fortunate than she. I truly believe that your mother and ours will finally meet and will have the most interesting conversations. Chris and I were blessed to have your mother in our lives. Your mother's body may be gone from this sinful earth, but I believe that her spirit is very much alive in your hearts, your homes. You may not physically see her, but she's with you! Please give Mr. Bernal a big hug for me.

I'm sorry I could not be there in person, but please be assured of my prayers and thoughts at this time.  As  I remember her, Mrs. Bernal was truly a woman of faith who loved God and her family.  She now enjoys the eternal reward for all her Christian labor on this earth.

Querido Papa, hermanos y hermanas con todo mi corazon les quiero decir que estoy con ustedes aun y cuando estoy tan lejos pero tan cerca con este dolor que sentimos por la perdida tan grande de mom,  pero se que Dios la tiene ya con el y desde alli ella seguira bendiciendonos como lo hizo en vida los quiero mucho y se que dios les dara la fortaleza para continuar dia a dia...Dios los bendiga y ojala pueda verlos pronto.
