

Amy Lynn Rodgers, 48, of Independence, Missouri passed away at the St. Luke's Hospice House on January 22, 2026, surrounded by her family. While she put up a valiant fight, she ultimately succumbed to metastatic melanoma.
Amy was born on December 19, 1977, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Robert and Linda (Humphrey) Rodgers. While she was the middle child of their three children, she was the "Boss" and "Momma Bear" always making her family a top priority.
Amy attended Nativity of Mary grade school and graduated from Notre Dame de Sion High School. Continuing her education, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Missouri, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences. Amy started her medical career at Truman Lakewood as a Radiology Technician and moved on to work for the the Kansas City VA Hospital. Amy worked there for 18 years and was the Supervisor over the Radiation department. She loved her job, her coworkers and mostly loved helping people.
In her youth, Amy danced for several years at Layton's and in adulthood took tap and ballet at Heart of America Dance Centre. She loved spending time with her family. Amy was incredibly proud of her daughter, Taylor, and loved supporting her in her own dance journey. Spending many years taking her to practices and watching her performances and competitions.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Rodgers; grandparents, Raymond "Bud" and Beverly Rodgers; uncle, Danny Rodgers and aunt, Angela Rodgers.
She is survived by her daughter, Taylor; her mother, Linda Rodgers; her brother, Mark (Jody) Rodgers; her sister, Kelly (Troy) Rice; her nieces and nephews, Gloria, Robert "Bob" and Rachel Rodgers and Devin and Kylie Rice; her aunts, Gloria Fletcher, Melva Rodgers, Teresa Rooney, Rita Lackey and Kim Steffens; her uncles, Ted Humphrey, Tom Fry and Fred Fry; her cousins, Tony Rodgers, Robin (Rodgers) Patchin, Jason Rodgers, Michelle Navarro, Brad Kessler, Brandi Reynolds, Angie Lackey and Katy Lackey; as well as a multitude of friends.
Amy's smile could light up a room. She was loving, fiercely strong and incredibly funny. She will be dearly missed.

Amy's services will be held at the McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E. 47th St., Kansas City, Missouri 64133. The visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 am with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri 64138.
