

Anesha Angeline Griffin, 23, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 in an automobile accident after leaving a social gathering in Houston, Texas. Anesha was born August 16, 1989 in Overland Park, Kansas, to Shawn Davidson Thornton of Overland Park, Kansas and Carlos Griffin of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Anesha’s vivacious personality and assiduous demeanor captivated all that she encountered throughout her life. Anesha attended elementary schools in the Kansas City, Kansas area, Shawnee Middle School and Northrop High School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and graduated from Centerville High School, Centerville, Ohio in 2007. Anesha was baptized as a small child at Second Missionary Baptist Church after declaring her love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As an adolescent, she participated in numerous activities including track and field, cross country, Student Council, Orchestra, Voices of Unity Youth Choir of Fort Wayne, National Honor Society, and Diversity Club to name a few. She participated in the 2007 Ebony Jewels & Gems Cotillion hosted by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as her entry into society as a young woman. Anesha showcased a variety of talents including violin, dance, singing, poetry, and athletic endeavors. Directly after graduating from high school as one of the top students in her class, Anesha went on to receive a scholarship to attend Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio as a freshman before transferring to Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida during her sophomore year. With an adventurous spirit she finally settled in Houston, Texas to study Marketing at the Houston Community College and was finishing her Associates Degree in Marketing with aspirations of attaining her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston in the spring. Anesha is also survived by her two sisters Alicia Griffin and Tamera Thornton. Others grieving her loss include her stepfather Clifford Thornton, stepmother Peggy Griffin, grandmothers Sue Davidson and Cherrie Nelson, grandfathers Dr. Harry Davidson and John Griffin, stepgrandparents Edward and Helen Sue Thornton, along with countless aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. She will be laid to rest near her great-grandparents John and Ruth Davidson in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anesha’s name may be made to Voices of Unity Youth Choir, Ft.
