Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Sudie Hewitt, and her brothers, Cogburn Hewitt and Charles Hewitt. She is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne Brown; her children, Taylor Brown (Michelle Brown), Perrin Brown, and Allison William (Clinton William); and her seven cherished grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
A lifelong learner, Ann graduated from Limestone College with a combined Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Biology and Chemistry, with a specialty in Medical Technology. She dedicated the early part of her career to working as a medical technologist before following her heart into education. Ann spent 25 years teaching preschool and kindergarten at St. Michael’s, where her patience, warmth, and love for children shaped countless young lives.
Faith and service were central to Ann’s life. She was an active volunteer at Christ Church Anglican and a devoted member of P.E.O., always eager to give her time, energy, and encouragement to others.
Ann embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved tennis, golf, and bridge, and was happiest when surrounded by friends. Known for her outgoing spirit, Ann truly never met a stranger. Her ability to connect, listen, and laugh made everyone feel welcome and valued.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Anglican, in honor of Ann’s enduring faith and generous heart.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
